POSITION SUMMARY:

The Human Rights, Education, and Empowerment (HREE) internship is a full-time paid position for a minimum duration of three months. The internship requires a dynamic, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can take on tasks related to new business research and proposal development. We are looking for an engaged self-starter who is ready to gain hands-on experience in international development. This role will support our existing portfolios focused on Trafficking in Persons, Child Labor, Girls Education, and Women/Youth Skills Development and Economic/Self Sufficiency.

The candidate must be in the US. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Intern will be temporarily remote, until Winrock allows employees to go back to the office. Working hours are East Coast time zone. 


Essential Responsibilities

New Business:

  • Conduct market analysis to identify and validate new and diverse business opportunities;
  • Research government and international opportunities (USG, DFID, SDC, UN, etc.) as well as foundation and impact investment opportunities;
  • Support the proposal development process through the preparation of pre-capture analysis, organizational capabilities statements, tailoring CVs, supporting recruitment/staffing processes, and other roles as designated;
  • Assist with tracking database updates and intel-gathering on prospective opportunities;
  • Coordinate and streamline information on behalf of HREE management and senior staff;
  • Other new business research/operational assistance, as needed and available.

Qualifications and Background:

Education:          

  • Recent BA or MA graduate.
  • Relevant focus area related to human rights, education, social inclusion and empowerment.

 Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Required:

  • International experience preferred.
  • Exceptional writing and other communications skills.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and problem- solving skills.
  • Experience writing or contributing to grant applications/proposals preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, ability to think critically.
  • Proven commitment to pursuing a career in international development.
