Description

The National Lawyers Guild Bay Area Chapter (NLGSF) seeks an enthusiastic and administratively competent intern for the fall semester. The individual will gain access to the Bay Area progressive legal community and knowledge of challenges and attacks on human rights throughout the country. Includes working on issues such as demonstrations law (defending protesters), human rights, immigrant rights, anti-racism and queer/transgender rights. Also involves engaging with members of the NLGSF at events in various parts of the Bay Area.

The intern will assist office staff and our demonstrations committee with general administrative duties, database updates, office system upgrades and will be assigned individual projects to complete during the spring. There will be three or more guild weekend evening events where interns will provide tabling and administrative support – one of them being our annual Testimonial Dinner in April.

Must be computer literate, comfortable working in a hectic environment, have a good phone demeanor and a passion for social justice. This is an unpaid internship that requires a commitment of 20-25 hours per week. This internship runs from January to May. Some internships may be extended into the summer. The National Lawyers Guild Bay Area Chapter is willing to fill out any paperwork for interns in order to receive college credit.
