Title: Summer Intern

The BEST Hospitality Training is looking for a 2018 summer intern for at least 25 hours/week. We are a non-profit education and training program for hospitality workers in Boston. We are funded through the Local 26 Education and Training Fund to provide services for incumbent hotel workers (English as a Second Language, US citizenship prep, computers, banquet server, culinary, certifications trainings, etc.). Our Dudley square office offers training program for hospitality workers and for those seeking employment in the hospitality industry in Boston. We receive grant funding to prepare individuals for quality hospitality jobs. Our mission is to provide our students with the skills and training to excel in the hospitality industry and in their personal lives.

Position Description:

BEST is excited to welcome a passionate and dedicated individual to intern with us during the 2018 summer. The intern’s duties and projects will be designed in collaboration between the intern and his/her supervisor, and will depend on the individual’s interests, skills, and experience. The intern will most likely do one-on-one tutoring (ESL, citizenship, computers) with our hotel workers whose regular volunteer tutors are away for the summer or will write resumes, teach students how to submit online applications, practice interviewing with them, and assist the career coaching team with administrative and Salesforce data management. Additionally, BEST will capitalize on the strengths an intern brings to the table. Our previous summer intern served as a career coach for one of our students, developing, and executing a successful job search strategy for him. He also developed an archiving system for the team. We look forward to helping future interns develop their skills and awareness through their work and collaboration with BEST.

Experience that is helpful:

Background in a hotel or restaurant, resume writing experience, tutoring or teaching experience, knowledge of Excel, database skills, and/or knowledge of a second language.
