Position: Development Intern

Internship Overview: The Development Intern works alongside the Executive Director to support our fundraising efforts. This person helps build relationships with community members, foundations, and local businesses to help promote our mission. In addition, the Development Intern occasionally represents the Center at community events on nights and weekends.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Well organized and detailed oriented
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Social media marketing/communication experience
  • Passion for working in nonprofit and/or community-based youth and family service organizations


  • Write and submit grant proposals
  • Assist in production and mailing of semi-annual appeal letters
  • Receive, record, and respond to donations
  • Help maintain donor database on Bloomerang
  • Help manage annual online crowd funding campaign
  • Create visual materials for grant applications, when necessary
  • Support the Board Fundraising Committee and attend Board Fundraising Committee meetings
  • Conduct prospect research on corporate, foundation, and individual donors
  • Track calendars of grant progress, due dates, and reports
  • Support fundraising and outreach events
  • Design and send out monthly newsletter
  • Help maintain and increase social media presence
