Hours per week
The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) is seeking highly-qualified applicants for the position of University Programs Intern.
Candidates are expected to dedicate a significant portion of their hours on-site in the HRF office located in the Empire State Building. This requirement will be assessed on an individual basis to determine a realistic schedule that fits the needs of both HRF and the University Programs Intern. This internship will be active until April 1, 2018 unless otherwise determined by both parties.
Overview of the Human Rights Foundation
HRF is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization that promotes and protects human rights globally, with a focus on closed societies. Our work includes effective campaigns to free political prisoners, world-class events such as the Oslo Freedom Forum, and programs such as Flash Drives for Freedom that publicize human rights violators and directly support dissidents and human rights defenders at risk.
The University Programs Intern will work closely with the Director of University Programs on coordination related to upcoming College Freedom Forum (CFF) events and Oslo Scholars Program (OSP). Main tasks will include conference logistics, assisting with coordination/tracking of vendor relations, and researching colleges and university groups for potential partnerships. There will also be administrative tasks related to the CFF events and OSP.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, organized self-starter with the capacity to work well in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should enjoy brainstorming new, creative ways to engage their peers and understand the importance of enlightening young people about the global state of human rights. An ability to have fun while getting the job done is a must. A background in editing, relationship management, and project management is a plus, as is fluency in Spanish.
Travel to domestic CFF events may be requested, but is not a guaranteed part of this position.
$1,000/month for full-time availability. We are looking to fill a full-time internship, but if you are a great fit and can only do part-time work, you will be considered.
