POSITION SUMMARY:

Winrock International is seeking applicants to apply for the position of Graduate Intern for Winrock’s Civic Engagement and Social Equity (CESE) Unit. The CESE Unit houses Winrock’s counter-trafficking in persons and gender-based violence programs in Asia and Latin America/Caribbean. This internship will support a variety of programmatic, technical, and proposal support activities and requires an energetic, self-motivated and detail-oriented person. Responsibilities will include organizing and coordinating positioning activities, supporting ongoing projects, conducting research on project-related activities, drafting communications materials, and other logistical and programmatic support. This internship is a three-month, part-time paid internship, with the possibility of extension through the spring.

Essential Responsibilities:

Knowledge Management/Positioning Activities

  • Prepare and maintain a repository of Counter Trafficking in Persons and Gender Based Violence curricula and tools
  • Draft blog posts and other documents for internal and public consumption
  • Help plan and organize public events
  • Attend relevant external events and disseminate information to Civil Society & Education team
  • Help compile, update, edit and produce project success stories, research reports, and other products to publicize progress and achievements

 

Project Management

  • Learn about and assist in the coordination of project start-up and close-out
  • Assist in quarterly and annual report writing, editing and formatting of project deliverables, manual development, and refining partner scopes of work
  • Update and maintain project-specific SharePoint sites
  • Coordinate policy approvals with Winrock operation support units
  • Assist with processing consultancy and procurement processes and payments
  • Update and review payment trackers for subrecipient organizations

 

New Business/Proposal Development

  • Support proposal development through the preparation of capabilities statements, tailoring CVs, supporting recruitment/staffing processes, and other roles
  • Other new business research/operational assistance, as needed and available

 

Qualifications and Background:

Education:         

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • Active Master’s degree student in focus area related to CESE’s work (international relations, education, political science, public policy, women’s studies, human rights, or international law) or recent Master’s degree graduate preferred

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Exceptional writing and other communications skills required
  • Experience living and/or working in developing countries strongly preferred
  • Experience preparing communications materials including brochures, pamphlets, and presentations
  • Strong analytical and research skills, demonstrated resourcefulness, and ability to solve problems creatively
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills and ability to work independently
  • Ability to demonstrate the highest level of ethical standards at all times
  • Proficiency in software supported by Winrock (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
