Seeds of Peace is a non-profit, non-political organization dedicated to empowering teenagers from regions of conflict with the leadership skills required to advance reconciliation and coexistence. Our network now encompasses 7,021 alumni throughout the Middle East, South Asia, Europe, and the United States who are uniquely positioned to lead change. We are looking for full-time and part-time interns to work with the administration/HR, finance, development, communications, programming, and camp departments of the organization.
The internship duration spans from January to May. All internship candidates will be considered as part of the general pool and then interviewed and assigned to specific departments as specified by the applicant and as deemed appropriate by the organization.
Administration and Human Resources Intern
The Administration and Human Resources Intern performs daily tasks such as answering phones, drafting correspondence, compiling information through research projects, keeping calendars and contact lists updated, etc. He/she assists the Administrative Coordinator and HR Manager with HR tasks such as updating various databases, interview scheduling, applicant correspondence, performing reference and background checks, preparing materials for orientation, conducting orientation, preparing all new hire paperwork, advertising all open job positions, creating new personnel files, and maintaining compliance with all Federal and State Laws. This position may assist with and other special long-term projects. He/she supports certain facets of camp hiring and programming as well as provides administrative support in the various departments as needed. This may include dealing with insurance forms and vendors, compiling materials for staff, donors, or board members, keeping the office organized and machines working, etc. Interns will also be responsible for various financial duties, including filling out check requests and maintaining organization with monthly business credit card statements.
Finance Interns will perform a number of tasks related to bookkeeping and accounting. They will learn how to use the Financial Edge software, and will enter financial data including vendor invoices and journal entries. Furthermore, finance interns will work with various types of spreadsheets, learn to do invoice coding, budgeting and schedule reconciliation. Daily tasks will include cash deposit and credit card donations processing, filing of paperwork and more.

Development (Fundraising and Outreach) Intern
The Development Intern position will involve assisting in several development areas:
- Database Management - Learns how our Raiser’s Edge database works and assists the Database Manager with entering new records from various sources and updating existing ones. Will help manage incoming lists including registration for our 25th anniversary celebration. Additionally, helps with organizing and managing mailings to various constituencies.
- Grant Writing - Foundation proposal renewals and reporting. Assists with grant solicitation process, including researching potential funders, grant writing and reporting, and correspondence. Imparts broad overview of the grant-making cycle and basic grant-seeking strategy. Requirements: a self-starter with strong writing and editing skills, attention to detail, professional phone and email manner, ability to follow through on both long- and short-term tasks.
- Corporate Sponsorship – Assisting staff in soliciting corporate sponsorships, including online research, initial phone calls, PowerPoint presentations and letter-writing. Builds communications and networking skills and imparts broad overview of corporate giving and social responsibility. Requirements: a self-starter and strong writer with attention to detail, professional phone and email manner, and ability to follow-through on both long- and short-term tasks. Experience creating PowerPoint presentations preferred.
The Communications Intern supports the Communications team with a range of tasks, from drafting website and social media posts, proofreading documents, research, basic website editing and some basic design work. The Intern will gain experience in online community management and basic website and print design, as well as improve his/her communications writing skills. Requirements: self-motivated, organized, and excellent writing and communications skills. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and/or InDesign is preferred. General understanding of Wordpress and some HTML preferred. Please include a 2-3 page writing sample in your application.
The Programming Interns are responsible for research, writing, and programming support as assigned by staff. This position will focus on impact data analysis, so exceptional computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet research are essential. Applicants must have excellent writing and oral communication skills, pay good attention to detail, be very organized, and be independent workers. Applicants with prior advanced in-depth research experience preferred.
Camp Coordinator Intern
The Camp Coordinator Intern will assist and support all Camp logistical and programming preparation. He/she will be responsible for supporting international selection and paperwork processes, managing travel logistics, assisting in staff hiring, and helping to maintain and oversee Camp vendor relationships. Candidates must be very well organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and take initiative.
Availability for a full-time internship is greatly preferred, with the possibility to extend this internship into a paid administrative position at our Seeds of Peace Camp in Maine for the summer months.
