INTRODUCTION

The Partnership for Public Service is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization with a big mission: we’re working to ensure the federal government is dynamic, innovative and that it effectively serves the American people. We’ve got a great team that helps make it happen.

Our staff is diverse in experience and perspective, but at our core, we share a lot of the same traits. We are mission-driven, creative, collaborative, optimistic and inclusive.

Our work is strategic, fast-paced and guided by our values:

  • Passion for public service and our work toward a more effective government
  • People who promote a culture of learning, leadership, collaboration, inclusion and respect
  • Persistence to drive change, take strategic risks and deliver results
  • Promise to be trustworthy, nonpartisan and fiscally responsible

We hire smart and friendly people who are great at what they do and good to one another in the process. Are you ready to join our team?

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

You may only submit one internship application per term. Applicants submitting more than one application per term will not be considered. If you have a strong interest in multiple teams, you may indicate your alternate team preferences later in the application. Please note that selecting multiple teams does not increase your likelihood of being selected for an internship.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Center for Presidential Transition helps presidential candidates and their transition teams, second-term administrations and federal agencies navigate the transition process and ensure a first term or second term administration is ready to govern. As we prepare for the next presidential transition, we are evaluating lessons learned from the 2020-21 transition, developing proposals to improve future transitions, and preparing political appointees to serve in the administration.

Center interns will play an important part in supporting our efforts to learn lessons from the 2020-21 transition lessons and preparing our transition resources for the 2024 transition cycle. Interns support events that educate leaders in government and members of the public about presidential transition, conduct in-depth research on transition-related issues and assist with program administration.

The Center offers interns an opportunity to contribute to a historic process while learning more about the federal government and developing expertise in a niche subject area. Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills, strong attention to detail and time management skills. Additionally, the ideal candidates will take initiative, be able to thrive in a fast-paced, changing work environment and commit to serving in a nonpartisan manner.
