    AGENCY DESCRIPTION: 

    The National Alliance on Mental Illness of New York City (NAMI-NYC) is the only nonprofit organization providing direct support to family members caring for loved ones with serious mental illness, like major depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. We offer classes, 30+ support groups, family mentoring, a Helpline in English, Spanish, and 180+ languages, and more to peers and family members completely FREE regardless of income, insurance, or immigration status. 

    POSITION DESCRIPTION:  

    The Program Operations Intern will collaborate with staff across the agency to advance our Programs & Services goals through community research, data analysis, outreach support and more. This intern will report to the Manager of Operations. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO: 

    • Community Outreach: Research organizations that may be interested in promoting our services, conduct email outreach and mail packages of our materials when necessary. 
    • Data Analysis: Review the data we gather from our program participants and work with Programs staff to identify trends. 
    • Tabling: Join our Outreach Coordinator at events and tabling opportunities across the city to promote our Programs & Services. 
    • Special Projects: Help improve operational systems within NAMI-NYC and our office space in collaboration with our Operations department. These projects vary by semester. 
    • Office & Admin Support: Serve as our backup receptionist and coordinate office maintenance tasks if our scheduled receptionist/office assistant calls out. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:  

    • Must identify as someone with a mental health condition or as a loved one of someone with a mental health condition. 
    • Must be a full or part time student at a college or university going into January 2024. 
    • Must have first round of COVID-19 vaccines (two doses of Moderna or Pfizer or one dose of J&J). 

    POSITION DETAILS: 

    • Compensation: A $2,000 stipend will be provided after the completion of 140 hours of work. Interns can complete these hours over the course of between 10 to 20 weeks depending on their school schedule. 
    • Time commitment: We ask interns to come into the office 1-3 days per week with shifts during the hours of 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday. Schedules can be flexible with classes and other obligations. 
    • Office Address: Interns must be able to commute to 307 W 38th Street, 8th Floor New York, NY 10018. This internship is fully in person. 
    • Start Date: We’d love to have someone start ASAP.
