Summary of Principal Responsibilities:

The Organizing and Advocacy Intern will work with Immigrant Rights Program staff to promote program vision and activities via organizing, outreach and education. Organizing and Advocacy Intern will also help create materials and manage social media as needed.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:  The Intern will work closely with AFSC’s organizing staff and community partners in New Jersey to help advance issues -based organizing projects such as TPS (Temporary Protected Status), DACA permanent residency, anti-detention in NJ, and larger federal immigration reform. The intern will assist in planning organizing and advocacy activities such as community meetings, legislative meetings and socially distanced public actions.

The intern will develop or translate outreach materials and promote activities via social media.

Qualifications:

  1. Strong interest in immigrants’ rights.
  2. Be highly motivated to take initiative.
  3. Familiarity with immigration policies and/or roots causes of migration.
  4. Comfortable with spreadsheets and CRM software.
  5. Ability to translate content into Spanish is a plus.

 Compensation: $20.00 per hour - Non-Exempt – There are no medical, dental, or life insurance benefits, short-term or long-term insurance benefits with this position. AFSC does participate in unemployment, worker’s compensation, and social security.
