EduCARE India is currently looking for flexible, positive and creative people, preferably with experience working with children, to be the Project Manager for our Girls' Clubs and Young Women's Associations in the states of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan, India. The main responsibility of these roles is to plan and prepare activities for both clubs, which range in attendance from 6 – 20 people, depending on the assigned community.

Girls Club The Girls Clubs are an opportunity for girls and young women in rural villages in northwest India between the age of 6 and 21 to enjoy new experiences, become more self‐aware, gain confidence and develop skills that will help them throughout their life. Though some of the girls who attend the clubs are enrolled in school or college, but they are still limited in their daily activities by their gender. Even simple activities that allow them to get out of the home or express themselves are small steps toward the larger goal of empowerment. The main goal of Girls Club is to build a space for girls, in which they can identify with and express themselves outside their homes. The aim of Girls Club is to facilitate new and interesting opportunities for the girls, provide them with new skills, develop and deliver awareness and information workshops and help to support them to identify and take steps towards achieving their dreams.

Young Women's Association

The Young Women's Association aims to support the development of young women's skills and enable them to pursue leadership roles on issues that affect their daily lives. The activities educate women on their rights and foster the development of their strengths and confidence. We coordinate weekly or monthly meetings that address the 5 areas of empowerment; health, economic, social, environmental and education.

The Young Women's Association often also incorporates a Self‐Help Group that is helping many of the women to start their own small income generating business. This enables the women to generate revenue sources autonomous from their husband's salary and, as a result, leads to her empowerment.

Skills required for the Young Women's Association and Girls' Club projects:

  • Studies, experience or a strong motivation in working with women/girls and gender related issues
  • A dynamic, flexible, organized, creative, independent, strategic and dedicated work ethos
  • Good communication skills
  • The capacity to initiate and maintain a project with little resources
  • Experience in teaching is a plus
