Summer 2018 SEO College Scholars 3-Week Immersion Internship

Opportunity for Graduate Students – New York City

ABOUT SEO COLLEGE SCHOLARS: Our team currently support over 670 students attending 175 colleges across 25 States, with a 90% college graduation rate. We achieve this by providing boot-camp style workshops before students begin college, one-on-one support and academic advising throughout the year, as well as ongoing career exploration and networking events.

 


Summer Interns will:

·        Receive first-hand exposure to all critical elements of college persistence & success

·        Shadow College Persistence Advisors on student advising, learning specialized techniques

·        Work with career readiness team to prepare College Scholars for internships and careers

·        Contribute to execution of events focused on 12th grade transition to college. Themes include personal adjustment, STEM preparedness, academic strategies and resources


Summer Interns participate in one of the sessions below:

·        Session 1 (June 11-28)

·        Session 2 (July 9-26)

·        Session 3 (July 30-August 16)

REQUIREMENTS:

·     At minimum, the successful completion of the first year of a Master’s degree in: Counseling, Social Work, School Counseling or related field at an accredited university by the Internship start-date. 

·     Summer Internship opportunities are also open to candidates who have completed their Master’s degree.

·     Available for three consecutive weeks from June 11 to August 16, 2018 (3 sessions: June 11-28, July 9-26 or July 30-August 16)

·     During the three-week internship, full-time Monday-Thursday for two weeks and one week will include Friday and Saturday work

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

·     Passion for closing the achievement gap, particularly in higher education.

·     Self-starter who is eager to take initiative and uses feedback as an opportunity for professional growth.

·     Team player with exceptional written and spoken communication skills.

·     Experience in managing data on Excel and developing PowerPoint presentations is a plus.

·     Extreme attention to detail.
