The Hort is looking for an organized, enthusiastic, and interested in gaining experience working on communications projects, community outreach, fundraising, and fundraising events. Intern must be very self-sufficient, be able to learn about each of The Hort’s programs, envision their project, and carry it out.

This is an opportunity for interns to learn about the different facets of a multi-faceted nonprofit organization. We are open to customizing the experience to meet the needs and interests of the individual. The position is 15-20 hours per workweek. The ideal candidate must be willing to work additional hours on occasion and all day on the day of fundraising events. The internship will begin during the 2019 spring semester, with the opportunity to continue through the summer.

Responsibilities:

· Visiting program sites to take pictures, conduct interviews, and document the impact of The Hort’s programs. Then take this information to create content for The Hort’s website, social media pages, marketing materials, and the Newsletter.

·Creating an agency Newsletter, highlighting stories and program impact of each of The Hort’s major programs (Education, GreenTeam, GreenHouse, and Public Programming).

·Providing support in preparation of special events/fundraisers and on the day of special events/fundraisers.

· Research potential grant and funding opportunities in partnership with the Senior Grant Officer. 

·Reporting to Senior Grants Officer and Development Associate.


Qualifications:

·Must be a matriculated undergraduate or graduate student.

· Interested in communications, community-based nonprofits, and/or fundraising.

· Must be organized and have great attention to detail

· Know how to use MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.)

·Have Excellent oral and written communication skills

· Experience using Adobe products (In-Design, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Constant Contact a plus.
