Assists in managing about 225 subscriptions to newspapers and periodicals.
Keeps necessary records for all subscriptions using specialized library software.
Scans and OCRs issues of most periodicals using library equipment
Communicates with agents and publishers to solve subscription problems.
Distributes issues to researchers or files them in the library.
Enters data into Excel for issues to be archived and packages them for preservation.
Assists with other archiving and library projects, as needed.
Skills: Office applications, especially Excel; document digitization.
Work experience: Prior office experience; work experience in a library or archive a plus
Education: BA undergraduate degree; MLS candidate or recent graduate a plus.
The internship is a chance to work at one of leading American civil rights agencies. The internship is also a chance to work with professionals in the library and archiving profession and to learn the technical services part of librarianship and archiving.
