The weekly time commitment for this position is approximatly 10-15 hrs/week. Summer Interns must be available Tuesday through Thursday, from 9:30 am - 5:00 pm. Adjustments to this schedule may be made as needed by interns and JTB-APO staff.

Just The Beginning Foundation-A Pipeline Organization (JTB-APO) is a nonprofit service organization dedicated to improving the legal system in the United States, while preserving and honoring the legacy of minorities in the federal judiciary. JTB-APO seeks to develop and nurture an interest in the legal profession among young people from underrepresented groups. We also strive to support continued advancement, with a long-term goal of increasing diversity in the federal courts and the legal profession as a whole.
Summer Interns are critical to the overall work of JTB-APO and it's Summer Legal Institute’s. Summer Interns will primarily be assigned various tasks to assist in the successful execution of SLI's. These tasks include, but are not limited to, managing scholar applications, program planning and coordination, social media management, administrative duties, student outreach, and ensuring the program is well organized.
In addition to providing logistical and administrative support for the program, Summer Interns will work with students to provide guidance and mentorship during JTB's Chicago Summer Legal Institute and Middle School Law Camp.
Summer Interns will assist the Program Director and Team Leaders in the successful execution of program curriculum. Enthusiasm, patience, dedication and the ability to engage and inspire the participating students are important.
This part-time, unpaid internship opportunity will begin May 15, 2018 (start and end date is flexible based on availability) and end August 17, 2018. Summer Interns must be available Tuesday through Thursday, from 9:30 am - 5:00 pm. Adjustments to this schedule may be made as needed by interns and JTB-APO staff.
Your qualifications include:
· Current academic enrollment at the undergraduate level;
· Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to learn quickly;
· Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all work;
· Ability to stay organized, meet deadlines, and prioritize;
· Excellent written and oral communication skills;
· A strong and demonstrated interest in JTB's mission.
Please note, JTB-APO does not provide travel funding or housing for Interns.
