We offer a number of services to the community; therefore there is a wide range of activities in which you can participate, on-site and off-site, from your home town.

Youth empowerment Initiatives
The youths are an immense resource for any community. However, to be resourceful, they must be empowered and energized to get engaged in community development. To foster personal development and community engagement, Hands of grace Africa has called upon youths from the surrounding community to mobilize themselves into a youth association as a forum for creating a voice and a platform to take concrete action. It is focused on: fostering youth activism and community engagement; empowering youth with practical life skills; empowering young people to unite toward a common good; fostering networking and collaboration among young people; fostering personal development and enhancement of self-image of the youths, among others. An intern would assist in providing direction and guidance to the youth in collaboration with the youth leaders and our staff to foster capacity development for young people.
Responsibilities will involve:
Poverty alleviation activities for sustainable development
This program is concerned with making communities aware and training them the methods and mechanisms of poverty free environment. An intern would assist Hands of grace Africa in researching various models of sustainable development and identifying resources for implementing income-generating projects. We believe if we come on top of this it will change the way of living in many poor families in Africa most especially in Uganda.
Village Teaching and Outreach
Do you want to ride to work on the back of a motor cycle as the sun rises? Scrub the red dust off your feet as the sun sets? Experience new activities with each new day? This placement is for you. Internees learn to make baskets while discussing domestic issues with amazing Ugandan women’s groups You’ll help primary students learn fractions. You’ll play Duck! Duck! Goose! with a bunch of 5 year olds. The sky is the limit!
Our intern will provide counselling, care, and education for rural people, and orphaned and needy kids. Some of these placements focus exclusively on teaching primary lessons and extra-curricular. Others include both teaching and outreach components. Please inform us if you wish to teach, do outreach work, or a combination of both, so we can best choose your program.
We care for the little ones
Do you love kids? Are YOU a big kid? Intern with never ending energy and loads of games up their sleeve can live and work with orphans and needy children. You’ll bring love, encouragement, and creativity to kids who lack family stability due to AIDS related illnesses.
Under women empowerment program, our internee and staff will carry out trainings in entrepreneurship skills and life self-sustaining skills, in this woman are trained according to their interests, some get trainings in entrepreneurship skills, sowing skills, art and craft. We believe that through these programs the vulnerable women will be able to take care of their families after which we shall create a credit fund which will help these women start up business so that they can sustain their families.
In this program the intern and our staff move to schools and have a counselling session, encouragements, uplifting their talents and life skill teachings to the studies. . An intern can assist us in resource/fund development for advancing our education programs through grants, fundraising, and partnerships.
Interns have free time for the duration of the project, weekends and the Language and Culture program. While Hands of Grace Africa does not arrange activities during this time off, our local staff, members and coordinators can provide priceless assistance in making appropriate arrangements for travel in Uganda. It’s the time for self-discovery and learning. It’s time to explore this foreign culture and exotic land. It’s definitely time to visit gorillas or go on safari while in Uganda! Our Hands of Grace Africa local coordinators/staff are available to give you free advice, travel tips and help to book your travel. Uganda has some of the most amazing examples of wildlife, as well as numerous safaris, fascinating landscapes, colourful customs, gorgeous beaches, historic castles, etc. Hikes through the local villages and country-sides can also be the perfect backdrop for an authentic, cultural experience. Our local staff members can provide invaluable assistance in booking travel and/or tours around Uganda. Please discuss your options with our local project staff to find the best way for you to spend your free time in Uganda.
