Position: International Grants Internship

Employer: Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids

Department: International Grants

Hours: Up to 29 hours per week (15 hours weekly projected average)

Potential Start Date: November 1, 2020

Duration: February 28, 2021

Compensation: Hourly wage

Location: Washington, D.C.

 Duration of Assignment:  Beginning: 11/1/20  Ending: 2/28/2021

Note: Intern can work up to 29 hours weekly. Work cannot exceed more than 980 hours a year.

 Job Description

 The Grants Unit Intern will serve as a member of a fast-paced, results-oriented international grants team.  The Intern is responsible for working with the International Grants Unit staff on programmatic, financial, and administrative assignments for our large portfolio of grants to non-governmental organizations (NGO), civil society groups, and governmental agencies around the world. This position (up to 29 hours per week) requires great attention to detail, excellent communication and writing skills, patience and an interest in public health issues and advocacy strategies.

 Primary Duties:

  • Provide assistance to Program and Financial Officers reviewing international grant project documents
  • Review and document status of narrative and financial grant reports
  • Produce analyses of narrative and financial reports from grantees
  • Other support for Grants Unit or Grantee events as requested by the Associate Director of International Grants and Contracts, or Vice President, Global Operations

 

Skills Required: 

  • Experience working in an international grant-making organization, international NGO or working on public interest advocacy campaigns
  • Familiarity with financial reviews and grant compliance
  • Knowledge of at least one foreign language(s) strongly preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including editing and proofing with high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while juggling multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Intermediate use of Microsoft Office; Excel; Fluxx database skills a plus, and
  • Graduate degree preferred; public health, public policy, international development or related degree with international focus preferred.

 

Requirements:

  • Must be located in the greater DMV area.
  • Must have a personal laptop or desktop.
