Inspired by the Jewish commitment to justice, American Jewish World Service (AJWS) works to realize human rights and end poverty in the developing world. Rooted in our mission, AJWS was founded in 1985 by American Jews who wanted to join together as global citizens to help some of the poorest and most oppressed people around the globe. Today, AJWS is the only Jewish organization dedicated solely to ending poverty and promoting human rights in the developing world. Through philanthropy and advocacy, we've addressed some of the gravest global problems of our time—genocide, AIDS, violence against women and girls, hatred of LGBT people, and the horrific consequences of natural and human-made disasters.
ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
AJWS is currently recruiting for its 2020 Summer Internship Program, offering internships in Communications/Digital Archives, Development Operations, Finance, International Education and Advocacy, Major Gifts, Media, Prospect Research, and Sexual Health and Rights. The Summer Internship Program is an excellent opportunity for students to work alongside AJWS’ staff and experience the many mechanisms that come together to create an effective organization, while gaining exposure to AJWS’ vision and mission. The Summer Internship Program educates interns around AJWS’ priority issue areas. We provide interns with mentorship from staff, hands-on experience in one of our domestic offices, and participation in organized learning opportunities, such as:
· Lunch with AJWS president;
· Informational meetings with each member of AJWS’s executive team and representatives from various departments; and
· Presentations from guest speakers, including AJWS grantees and partners from the countries around the world where we work.
This is a paid 8-week program, beginning June 22nd and concluding August 14th. It is designed for students who have completed at least one year at a college or university.
