The Thinkubator, an innovation and workforce development nonprofit organization is seeking a nonprofit management and grants intern.  The internship will consist of learning how to run a startup nonprofit organization, managing a virtual staff, building revenue streams, and grant writing. 

The Grants intern writes, researches, and organizes, and supports tracking systems for The Thinkubator’s government, foundation, and corporate grant applications. The Grants intern works 15 hours a week and reports to the President. Candidates must be based in the New York City or Poughkeepsie area to attend meetings and events, but most of the internship will be conducted remotely. We’re looking for candidates with an interest in learning about non-profit grant writing for workforce development organizations focused on economic, racial, and education equity. Ability to manage time and multiple projects, meet deadlines, and focus on detail.  Strong written, verbal, and copy editing skills. Desire to work within a community of social justice warriors. An interest in economic and workforce development. 

Duties include: Assisting with the preparation of grant proposals, including drafting, copyediting, and spell checking grant applications. Writing grant reports. Researching grants and identifying granters and foundations that match our mission. Organizing and editing grant language from previous proposals in a grants language bank. Maintaining a calendar of grant deadlines. Other tasks reasonably requested by The Thinkubator. 

Qualifications 

  • Applicants should be graduate or post-graduate  students seeking credit-bearing internship experience majoring in business, public policy and administration, political science, social work, psychology, entrepreneurship, urban studies. 
  • Desire to make a difference in Black, Brown, and Low-Income communities. 
  • Passionate about access to higher education and good paying jobs, 
  • Concerned about economic, racial, and education equity.

You will be expected to work a minimum of 10 hours per week and apply for your institution’s credit bearing internship course to receive academic credit for this experience. Our required hours will depend on the amount of internship hours required to complete your internship.  Funding is very limited as we are a startup nonprofit organization.
