Summer 2021 Internship

The DC Collaborative believes that the arts and humanities are central to the education of every student. A community-based partnership organization, now more than 120 members strong, the DC Collaborative works to promote quality arts and humanities education for all DC public and public charter schools. Working with our members, the DC Collaborative produces such exemplary programs as Arts and Humanities for Every Student, Professional Development and Collective Impact initiatives.

Interns are involved in providing support to DC Collaborative staff, as pertaining to our programmatic, communications, membership and collective impact initiatives, and developmental needs, as well as working to support the daily activities necessary to manage a small non-profit.  Internships can be specialized in the following areas or any combination thereof:

School Partnerships Intern

• Process and document School Partnership Agreements and orientation materials to assist in program implementation of the Arts and Humanities for Every Student (AHFES) program
• Coordinate with teacher contacts to ensure timely/ accurate reminders, updates, and communications regarding field-trips/ professional development workshops
• Update Content in the monthly School Partnership Newsletters
• Research and Update Content in weekly correspondences with Educators/Schools
• Assist with school outreach by developing content for our Story Bank Blog and our other social media platforms
• Attend and take accurate notes at monthly Equity/Justice Committee meetings
• Other duties as assigned

Education Programming Intern

• Assist with online registration and database maintenance for the AHFES program
• Design, edit and proof online AHFES Catalogue pages for each participant in the AHFES program
• Process and document Memorandum of Understanding and other materials to prepare for program implementation
• Assist with AHFES program review preparation
• Coordinate with organization contacts to ensure timely/ accurate reminders, updates, and communications regarding field-trips/ professional development workshops
• Work with stakeholders to schedule professional development for members.
• Other duties as assigned

Program Assessment / Teaching Artist Initiatives Intern

• Assist with designing and developing measures to assess and evaluate AHFES programs and its impact for students for continued program improvement
• Research best practices to communicate and promote assessment for increased response rates from both teachers and students
• Research best practices to analyze and present quantitative and qualitative data received from teachers and students 
• Work with teaching artists and practitioner members to provide membership services, such as newsletters, professional development workshops, and resources
• Other duties as assigned

Membership & Social Media Communications Intern

• Assist with database management including management of listservs, community calendar and job bank
• Assist with the FY22 Membership renewal campaign- Including drafting marketing collateral, database preparation and new member prospecting, dues tracking and database maintenance
• Update content in the monthly membership newsletter
• Assist in administration, note taking and event recap blogs for membership convenings including: Membership Meetings, Any Given Child DC Steering Committee meetings, topic sessions and other workshops/ networking events
• Draft content and track the organization’s social media efforts including: Member Takeover, Distance Learning Resource Database features, Membership Renewal, and Convenings/ General outreach
• Assist in developing a Style Guide for communications collateral

Data and Collective Impact Initiatives

• Assist with data collection, analysis and database maintenance for our Collective Impact Initiative, Any Given Child DC
• Draft a development plan and participate in ideation planning for the “Data Co-Lab” resource hub.
• Assessment & Evaluation Committee administration and Note-Taking
• Update content in the bi-monthly Collective Impact newsletter

Essential Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and administrative skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work on multiple and concurrent projects
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, G-suite and Adobe Creative Suite

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior internship experience in a non-profit setting
• Prior experience with DC Public and Public Charter Schools
• Working knowledge of HTML or website applications
