AAPA is seeking a qualified candidate to participate in our 2021 Fall Internship Program. The internship will run the duration of the fall semester with the potential to extend through the Winter 2022 semester period.

ABOUT AAPA:

AAPA is the national organization that advocates for all PAs and provides tools to improve PA practice and patient care. Founded in 1968, AAPA represents a profession of approximately 150,000 PAs across all medical and surgical specialties in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. territories and the uniformed services. PAs are integral to modern healthcare and provide a solution to the demand for increased access to cost-effective, evidence-based, patient-centered care.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

The research team is seeking an inquisitive and precise intern to support ongoing projects within the scope of the department. They will provide support to AAPA's research strategic initiative, annual conference, and work cross-departmentally to provide research support within AAPA.

The research intern will have the opportunity to:

  • Critically evaluate existing research that has already been summarized, then synthesize and categorize the summaries while inputting the information into EndNote
  • Update the Research Bibliography, coding past entries to become aligned with the updated PA Research Agenda, as well as pulling in relevant articles from over the past 12 months
  • Write research articles for the AAPA website
  • Support submissions for grants and the AAPA 2022 conference
  • Provide information to, address queries, and liaise with AAPA's Advocacy department
  • Participate in the creation of research publications for AAPA 2022 annual conference

This is an opportunity to experience how real-world research in a nonprofit is conducted, gain a better understanding of the PA profession and the changing healthcare landscape, and learn how research insights can provide immediate value to the organization and its members.
