AmeriCorps Member - Conservation Director Intern

Position Description: As an AmeriCorps member with Conservation Nebraska, you will build statewide capacity to manage Nebraska’s resources by increasing knowledge of and concern for the most important conservation issues facing our state, such issues will include clean energy, water quality, native habitat management, and more. You will recruit, coach, and support community volunteers in implementing conservation projects, and build partnerships between conservation professionals, local and state government, and your fellow community members.


Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • 1700 (FT member) or 900 (HT member) service hours between your start date and August 31st, 2022
  • Organize monthly educational events and/or community discussions focused on conservation issues.
  • Helping community volunteers organize monthly service-learning projects that benefit local partners
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of long-term conservation projects.
  • Recruiting community volunteers
  • Door-to-door canvassing and/or phone banking
  • Expanding and strengthening partnerships between Conservation Nebraska and local entities and organizations already working on conservation issues in the region.
  • Weekly reporting of time, mileage, service activities 
  • Any other requirements as directed by the Program Director.


Benefits of Serving as an AmeriCorps Member with Conservation Nebraska:

  • Living stipend of $16,000 (FT) or $8,000 (HT)
  • Segal AmeriCorps Education Award $6,345.00 (FT) or $3,172.50 (HT). You can use your education award to repay qualified student loans and to pay certain educational expenses at eligible institutions of higher education and training programs.
  • The AmeriCorps position can also be utilized to satisfy an internship requirement for college 



Minimum Education Level: High school diploma or GED

Other Requirements: Car and driver’s license needed
