Summary/Position Overview

The International Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects for the foreign entities and regional programs of Panthera and lead the decentralization of the Regional hubs financial management.

He/She supports the organization’s mission through the establishment of strong, robust financial controls and processes for the entities and regional programs, the delivery of regular financial reports and analyses that inform management decisions and guide both short and long-term business strategy.

He/She mentors and supervises the work of regional financial officers and structures the regional financial teams for best efficacy.

He/She guides all aspects of programmatic financial management as well as significant fundraising efforts. Primary responsibilities include the consolidation of annual budgets, cash flow forecasts, regular analyses of budget vs actuals plus the development, testing and dissemination of internal financial controls and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Create long-term finance department strategic plans for the foreign entities and Regional hubs, aligned with Panthera’s strategic plan
  • Manage all financial aspects of the foreign entities and Regional hubs with decision-making ability
  • Manage the financial regional team including coaching and developing employees and teams for a more effective skill set and work environment (around 14 people)
  • Ensure impeccable and detailed financial records
  • Identify patterns in Panthera’s spending and revenue; create and propose solutions to any problem areas
  • Oversee the decentralization of foreign entities and the setup and training of their finance officers to ensure standardized processes;
  • Support and advise New York FP&A function in the budgeting process and reporting;
  • Review and pre-approve budget updates;
  • Work closely with Panthera’s HQ’s in New York to define, disseminate and enforce financial controls and procedures;
  • Review monthly and annual donor, regional and organizational reports.
  • Present financial reports to board members, stakeholders, executives, and donors in formal meetings.
  • Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes.
  • Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company.
  • Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation.
  • Play a key role in human resource and administrative functions.

Qualifications 

  • Advanced degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of experience in a finance role.
  • Leadership skills and experience.
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Deep understanding of business principles and practices.
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities.
  • Superb attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to plan and execute complex projects.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent English, both spoken and written. French and Spanish language skills will be beneficial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and also NetSuite.
  • Integrity and honesty.
  • Prior experience with conservation NGOs highly desirable.

This position will be based in London through Panthera Wildlife Trust UK.
