The Role

A+ Colorado is looking for an innovative communications professional to join our staff. This team member will execute an ambitious social media expansion plan while also working with partners to build out data visualization capabilities. The right candidate is someone who stays on top of social media and communications trends, is a nimble and responsive communicator, and thrives in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.

Accelerate social media impact.

-A+ has accounts on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Monitor and update all social media sites daily with A+ content, news, and stories.

-Search for new followers and friends to increase visibility on these networks.

-Stay on top of social media trends, identifying new opportunities to promote A+ in both social media as well as traditional media.

-Ensure relevant information is shared and distributed thoughtfully as a representation of the organization.

Design engaging content for website and broader distribution.

-Work with a third party designer to build out interactive data visualizations to accompany A+ reports and campaigns.

-Monitor progress of website activity on a regular basis via Google Analytics (internal data monitoring tool) and adjust our behavior to meet communications goals.

-Regularly update website content through website CMS (WordPress).

-Identify opportunities to improve the website experience.

Monitor education news, blogs, website to follow current trends in education policy and interest.

-Sign up for relevant blogs, news site, local organization e-newsletters, and websites to stay on top of education topics that are trending.

-Follow current education topics and share news with all staff members.

-Attend local informational meetings, board of education meetings, etc to learn more about education issues in the Denver metro area.

Build high impact communication materials and resources.

-Assist in drafting press releases for the organization as well as preparing press kits to accompany all report releases.

-Create monthly newsletters using Constant Contact, updating the templates as needed.

Build relationships with A+ Colorado partners.

-Connect with stakeholders in the Colorado education community to understand how to amplify impact messages.

-Personalize messaging to reflect key community stakeholder groups.


-Assist with all event planning

-Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

-High School Diploma or equivalent

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills

-Excellent command of social media platforms, Google Analytics, WordPress, and Constant Contact

– Able to quickly learn and manage database programs

-Flexibility in dealing with organizational growth and change

-Proven ability to efficiently manage many tasks at once

-Willing to work independently as well as with a team

-Proficient in spelling, punctuation and grammar

-Detail-oriented and highly organized

-Professional maturity and judgment

– Interest or experience in education policy and advocacy, and curious to learn more

– Commitment to A+’s mission of improving access to excellent educational opportunities and

increasing achievement across Colorado


-Experience with data visualization software or development

-Spanish language proficiency

The mission of A+ Colorado (A+) is to harness the power of civic leadership to build public will and advocate for the changes necessary to dramatically increase student achievement in public education in Colorado. Our board and community partners include community leaders across the public, nonprofit, university, and business sectors. A+ Colorado is a growing advocacy, policy and research nonprofit.
