Senior Manager of Events, Long Island City Partnership

LIC Partnership is seeking a Senior Manager of Events to produce, support and manage a roster of 15-25+ events annually, ranging from online webinars to community events and gala (see below). 

LIC Partnership (LICP) is the neighborhood development organization for Long Island City (LIC). Our mission is to advocate for economic development that benefits the area’s industrial, commercial, tech, cultural, tourism, and residential sectors. The goal is to attract new businesses to LIC, retain those already here, welcome new residents and visitors, and promote a vibrant and authentic mixed-use community.

LIC is experiencing a period of explosive development and transformation, as well as still confronting the effects of the pandemic, and LICP is providing even more services to meet the demands of LIC’s changing community. A core part of LIC Partnership’s mission is to connect community members and drive economic development through a robust program of events. The Senior Manager of Events reports directly to the President of the organization. The role supports the work of all departments, and all staff assist the Events Department as needed for events. This is a unique opportunity to thrive in a small, fast-paced organization across a wide range of projects and in a community-driven role in a rapidly growing neighborhood.

Responsibilities – Oversee all events, including but not limited to:

  • Plan and produce 15-25+ in-person and virtual business and community events per calendar year (networking, educational events, a community street festival, high level conference, and cocktail gala – note not all large events will be produced in a given year), while maintaining and adhering to budget and timelines for events
  • Production management of all event elements, including venue, vendors, speakers, sponsors, participants, staff, and volunteers
  • Manage online aspects of events, from registration to production of an online event to surveying and gathering attendee data.
  • Work closely with Marketing to ensure that event details are promoted
  • Preparing post-event reports and summaries
  • Help create events, partnerships, and programming to support the various constituencies of the organization, including our small businesses and nonprofits and act as a resource for community stakeholders in regards to local vendors, logistics, and more.
  • Support other departments marketing and events’ needs

Qualifications and Skills

  • Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize, multi-task, organize and relay information to others, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong writing, communications, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact with a wide variety of people including elected officials, sponsors, and other community stakeholders
  • Solid management skills, including planning, goal-setting, budgeting, and management of event participants, staff, vendors and volunteers
  • Basic knowledge of Salesforce database, basic design skills, event software/tech and email marketing familiarity preferred
  • Analytical skills a plus, especially in regards to reporting
  • Background in Hospitality industry a plus
