Mission: The Boston Review Membership Coordinator (MC) will play an essential role in implementing outreach efforts to potential members, donors, subscribers, and store customers. The Membership Coordinator is responsible for branding Boston Review’s membership program, developing approaches to membership recruitment and retention, executing strategies and campaigns, and tracking results. The position will be working closely with the Publisher, Engagement Editor, Fulfillment Manager, and be well versed in the workings of the fulfillment system and store operation and maintenance. The Membership Coordinator will also develop and execute grassroots fundraising efforts, provide development support for major donors, and oversee grant administration.

Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for creating and implementing direct response appeals for Boston Review’s membership program, ongoing donation efforts, and annual fund. • With Publisher, set annual benchmark goals for the budget. • Establish the overall strategy and the annual calendar of membership events and programs. * Work closely with Fulfillment Manager to administer systems for acquiring, maintaining, and retaining new members and donors. Develop all promotional assets for member emails, confirmations, and thank yous, renewal series, gift programs, banner ads, and pop-ups.

Responsible for coordination with Engagement Editor to ensure a unified tone and message through all forms of outreach, including social media. • Coordinate efforts to increase membership through special events; manage planning and execution of public and members-only events. • Responsible for up-to-date maintenance of Boston Review’s database (Salesforce) including input of records, processing gifts, list pulls and creating reports, etc. • Responsible for maintenance of Boston Review’s online store • Track grants and ensure all reporting, deadlines and grant requirements are met on a timely basis. • May include grant research, coordination and application as requested. • Work closely with Publisher to coordinate, administer, and document donor relations and activities. • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: BA and proven membership development/fundraising track record in the nonprofit field. • Proficiency in Salesforce or similar database management system. Proficiency in Excel and Powerpoint. • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and changing environment. • Vision, creativity, and an entrepreneurial spirit, combined with strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
