The Fair Labor Association (FLA) combines the efforts of industry, civil society organizations, and colleges and universities to promote and protect workers’ rights and to improve working conditions globally through adherence to international standards. The FLA is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and has offices in Ivory Coast, Switzerland, and Türkiye.

POSITION SUMMARY

The FLA seeks a Senior Associate (SA) to primarily support L’Oreal Projects in Brazil and Latin America and evaluate company members, farmers, and suppliers within their supply chains. Based in Brazil, this position is within the Agriculture and Supply Chain Innovation department, directly reporting to the Program Manager for South America. The SA may also work with the Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer, who manages all projects with L’Oreal, and the Technical Director, who oversees work in the Americas.

The SA coordinates workflows, and reviews and analyzes reports and information related to the independent farm and supplier assessments conducted. They may also conduct research, and manage and track relevant records and progress, documents, and processes to contribute to the smooth implementation of multiple projects in Brazil and other countries in Latin America. 

This is a Level 2 position that is based in a Geographical 2 location, which has a base salary range equivalent to USD $42,452- $47,169, depending on experience.

This is a fixed-term position for 12 months with the possibility of extension contingent upon funding.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Support the project activities in Brazil and other Latin American countries, including but not limited to meeting coordination, preparation of relevant materials, research, and stakeholders outreach, for L’Oréal projects and assessments of FLA members. 
• Assist with management system evaluations by reviewing and analyzing members, and/or project partners' suppliers’ documentation, assessment reports, and other research, and communicating with the members.
• Conduct and coordinate field assessments and visits/observations and desktop research, managing the schedules, logistics, and communications.
• Support the quality review of assessments and research for the projects by checking for content accuracy and editing language and grammar. 
• Support the internal process of report preparation, searching for qualified assessors/consultants, preparing their contracting documents, and invoice processing, document filing, and organization related to the project activities.
• Support related operations and duties of the Agriculture and Supply Chain Innovation department, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS 

• At least three years of professional experience in labor due diligence and assessments, labor rights, human rights, and/or corporate sustainability as well as agricultural supply chain management, sourcing, and procurement.
• Strong computer literacy including MS Office Suite; experience with iOS preferred. 
• Strong ability to track, and follow through. 
• Fluency in English both verbal and written. Strong writing skills, including authoring reports (in English and Portuguese).
• Ability to synthesize and analyze large amounts of information and data comfortably and accurately.
• Strong commitment to the mission of the FLA to protect workers’ rights and conduct due diligence on member companies.
• Ability to learn quickly. 
• Strong organizational skills; program management skills; time management skills; and keen attention to detail. 
• Travel up to 10% is required for this position.
