NED seeks an experienced, motivated, energetic, organized, and resourceful Director of Accounting, who is a mission-driven institutional team player and would be excited to join an organization with evolving institutional security needs given today's global challenges to democracy. Position Summary:
The NED Director of Accounting is a leadership role within the NED finance team. The director oversees all accounting and related reporting activities within an organizational General and Administrative budget of $60M+.
Oversight includes supervision, guidance, and development of staff with functional responsibility over General Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Procurement. The Director of Accounting also will have indirect responsibility for oversight of all financial, project/program, and grants accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period; collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants.
The Director of Accounting ensures that proper systems, procedures, and internal controls are consistently in place to support effective financial and accounting operations and maintain compliance with GAAP and federal requirements to achieve successful audits and efficient processes.
The Director of Accounting provides leadership in maintaining strong internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization, promoting a positive and supportive work environment.

Located in Washington, D.C., the salary range for this role is $ 123,250 – 164,250 USD, plus benefits. The final offer for a successful candidate will be determined by a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, education, and market considerations.
