SPUR promotes good planning and good government in the San Francisco Bay Area through research, education, and advocacy. Our work spans seven programs: community planning, economic development, good government, housing, sustainability and resilience, regional planning, and transportation. SPUR is a nonprofit organization with 30 full-time employees, hundreds of interns, and volunteers, and over 4,000 business and individual members.

Major Responsibilities

Executive Assistant to the San Francisco Director and Oakland Director; Scheduler to Chief Development Officer

  • Manage active calendar and schedule appointments for the San Francisco and Oakland Directors as well as the Chief Development Officer (CDO)
  • Keep the Directors and CDO well-informed of upcoming commitments, following up as necessary
  • Maintain an effective documentation and filing system for all materials related to the San Francisco Director and Oakland Director
  • Prepare meeting materials including agendas, correspondence, and presentations as needed
  • Provide additional support to the San Francisco and Oakland Directors as needed, including, but not limited to, drafting communications, attending and testifying at committee and public hearings
  • Assist with development stewardship events as assigned, including room setup and managing catering orders
  • Make reservations and travel plans
  • Answer and/or return phone calls and complete expense reports

San Francisco and Oakland Board of Directors Liaison

  • Serve as the Directors’ administrative liaison to SPUR’s Board of Directors
  • Manage board member information, including attendance, contact and affiliations
  • Prepare for and staff monthly San Francisco and Oakland Board meetings
  • Compile, edit and send monthly San Francisco and Oakland Board packets
  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality in relationships with all Board members
  • Adhere to compliance with applicable rules and regulations set in bylaws regarding Board and Board committee matters
  • Be a resource on, and available to answer questions about, the Board of Directors

Oakland Office Manager

  • Ensure the Oakland office is clean, comfortable, organized, and properly maintained for staff and visitors
  • Monitor and ensure the office has all necessary supplies and materials
  • Maintain a seamless and professional environment by serving as liaison between SPUR and sub-tenant around building needs
  • Coordinate SPUR meeting calendars with sub-tenant event schedule
  • Supervise SPUR Front Desk Ambassadors and volunteers as needed

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree.
