The Connecticut Bar Foundation provides funding to legal service organizations that represent Connecticut residents who cannot afford an attorney. Since 1952, the Foundation has also worked in partnership with judges, attorneys, and law schools to administer programming that promotes understanding and improvement of the law, legal institutions, and the legal profession.

We are looking for a full-time Executive Assistant / Program Coordinator to assist the Executive Director, Program Manager, and Chief Financial Officer. Great opportunity to network with judges, attorneys, law schools, legal aid providers, and banks throughout Connecticut.

Duties include:

  • General office duties: answer and direct calls, respond to general inquiries, open and sort incoming mail, update and maintain our constituent database, track donations and other payments, make remote deposits, draft and send routine correspondence and press releases, maintain supplies.
  • Regularly update website content: Update content on website. Create webforms for online event registrations, grant applications, nominations, contest submissions, etc.
  • Event planning: help organize, plan, and staff meetings, symposia, roundtables, and other events with lawyers, judges, and others on timely issues impacting the legal profession
  • Assist with grantmaking process: draft and distribute press releases, organize and distribute submissions to staff and board, schedule site visits
  • Coordinate annual nominations: collect and organize nominations, vet nominees, develop nominee packets for review by committee members, and communicate with nominators
  • Invoicing: Clean and merge database content to invoice annual dues payers and track payments 
  • Administer annual Essay Contest: Manage committee’s process in selecting a topic, identifying contest judges, distributing materials to schools throughout Connecticut, organizing submissions and assigning/distributing to volunteers, tracking and averaging scores, notifying contestants of results, and planning/staffing awards ceremony at the Connecticut Supreme Court
  • Other duties as assigned. We are a small, dedicated team that pitches-in wherever needed to get things done.

Necessary Qualifications:

-                 Bachelor’s degree (Associate degree with relevant experience may be substituted)

-                 Excellent oral and written communications skills

-                 Well-organized with strong attention to detail

-                 Tech-savvy; quickly adapt to new technology solutions

-                 Proactive in identifying problems and proposing solutions

-                 Professional demeanor and self-confidence interacting with high-profile professionals

-                 Contribute to positive team dynamics

-                 Proficient with Microsoft Office suite

-                 Ability to lift up to 35 lbs (office supplies, event materials, etc.)

-                 Personal transportation

-                 English proficiency

Preferred qualifications:

-         2+ years of previous office experience

-         Event planning experience (for work, school, or otherwise)

-         Experience creating and/or updating web content

-         Familiarity with constituent databases
