Juntos is a community-led, Latinx immigrant organization in South Philadelphia fighting for our human rights as workers, parents, youth, and immigrants. We believe that every human being has the right to a quality education and the freedom to live with dignity regardless of immigration status.

Juntos combines leadership development, community organizing, and focused collaborations with other community-based and advocacy organizations to build the power of our community members so they may be active agents of change and work against their own oppression.

Community Resource Organizer | Position Description

The Juntos Community Resource Organizer will manage key mutual aid initiatives and oversee one on one case support to ensure the well-being and self-organization of our community. Through their work, the Community Resource Coordinator will identify key areas of inequity to devise community-led advocacy efforts and build capacity of our campaigns, while also centering relationship building and base building as a key goal for our aid initiatives. A qualified applicant will have at minimum two years experience in organizing and social justice campaign work and strong local ties. 

The key responsibilities for this position are as follows: design and oversight of Juntos’ mutual aid initiatives as a strategy of resistance and movement building, implementation of a relationship-centered and trauma-informed approach to the management of all case work, and building capacity for our human rights and immigration campaigns by analyzing issues of inequity through case support and forming strong relationships with community members.

A qualified applicant will have a willingness to build and maintain relationships with community members and partners, minimum two years experience in organizing and social justice campaign work, and an interest to develop Juntos’ mutual aid work.

Position Responsibilities

• Willingness to oversee follow-up for case inquiries by phone and/or social media platforms in addition to those raised in person
• Experience and/or willingness to plan, develop, and execute virtual webinars and info sessions highlighting Know Your Rights trainings, proactive information sessions in response to issues raised through cases, and Q&A with service providers or other partners
• Willingness to coordinate and manage share-out of resources to community through social media platforms and other key communication services
• Ability to track and analyze issues of access and advocacy revealed via casework as a way to inform campaign direction and organizational response
• Management of an encrypted database of case information, records of membership engagement, and secure communications with our base
• Willingness and ability to build and maintain relationships with community members, youth leaders, and coalition members
• Manage key social media platforms on behalf of the organization with particular focus on highlighting resources and services available to community on a regular basis and reviewing case inquiries
• Formalize follow-up process with community members to ensure that they received the services needed and engage with advocacy and campaign efforts
• Build and maintain Juntos resource guide with updated information, including specific resources around current public health issues and up to date partner information
• Build and maintain connections with relevant city and national organizations and coordinate partnership efforts as relevant to position

Secondary responsibilities

• Represent Juntos at coalition tables as assigned 
• As needed for campaigns, research and consolidate information regarding legislation and current events related to human rights and immigration rights and proof policy and/or organizational messaging
• Build and support local campaigns such as the Juntos’ Community Resistance Zones while also sustaining coalition work on a regional and national level
• Utilize and expand upon existing Juntos curriculum and Know Your Rights resources
• Facilitate and/or co-facilitate leadership development spaces

Position Requirements

• Experience managing case work and supporting individuals’ access to resources
• Familiarity with and/or willingness to research mutual aid frameworks and initiatives locally and nationally
• Experience with one-on-one meeting facilitation and outreach skills in Spanish and English
• Experience working with communities from diverse ethnic and class backgrounds in a trauma-informed manner 
• Understanding of the issues impacting immigrants at the local, state, and national level and how structural or legal barriers can affect immigrant access to healthcare, education, and/or other critical resources
