Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2) is a national, non-partisan organization of more than 9,000 business owners, investors and others who advocate for smart policies that are good for both the environment and the economy. Now in its 20th year, E2 recently launched a new Southeast Chapter, based in North Carolina – one of nine E2 chapters nationally. An affiliate of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), E2 works at both the state and national levels. More information can be found at www.e2.org.
We seek a passionate, motivated and dependable individual to identify and organize non-partisan business leaders throughout North Carolina and other Southeastern states who care about the environment and the economy and help them communicate and support the economic benefits of smart climate and clean energy policies. This person will work closely with E2 staff and volunteer directors of E2’s new Southeast Chapter to oversee the growth and advocacy work of the chapter and its membership in NC, VA, GA and SC.
The ideal candidate has established business connections and contacts in North Carolina and neighboring states, preferably in the clean energy, tourism/outdoors and other clean economy industries and experience in business organizing, communications and policy.
Job duties include identifying, organizing business leaders and amplifying their voices about the economic benefits of smart clean energy, clean transportation, and state and/or regional climate and environmental policies in the Southeast. This includes building relationships with business leaders and state lawmakers; coordinating and collaborating with in-state business and environmental partner groups; developing communication pieces (e.g., opinion pieces, press releases, E2 reports) and amplifying E2 materials with media, the public and lawmakers.
Outreach and Coordination (70%):
Resume and letter of interest should be sent to E2 Eastern States Advocate Uchenna Bright at firstname.lastname@example.org
Position will be filled ASAP. While this is a one-year consulting position, we expect to extend the duration of this contract if the consultant produces strong advocacy and membership development results.
HOURS: Part-time (30 hours/week, negotiable)
LOCATION: North Carolina. Charlotte or Raleigh preferred; must be able to travel throughout North Carolina and occasionally out-of-state
