Barn Sanctuary seeks to hire a full-time Programs Manager who will be responsible for a wide variety of duties: answering general inquiries from the public; office management; fulfilling incoming animal sponsorships and donors; donation acknowledgments; managing online donor database; facilitating animal rescue and placement; coordinate schedule of volunteers; management of tours.


Volunteer Program

  • Reviewing and securing volunteers
  • Holding trainings
  • Assist with volunteer application processing and tracking

Visitor Program

  • Assisting with guided tours of the shelter, with the possibility of acting as independent tour guide
  • Volunteer tour guide schedule
  • Prep for weekend tours
  • Date entry of tour surveys


  • Coordinating with organizations for rescue missions
  • Public education outreach to local schools
  • Creating a public outreach campaign for local restaurants


  • Provide administrative support
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail
  • Assist with HR functions
  • Manage online donor database


  • Assist with events
  • Comfortable with assisting in animal care emergencies
  • Addition projects TBD
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Good organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of the animal welfare movement and farm animal sanctuaries
  • Strong communication skills, including public speaking and writing
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Resourcefulness and ability to work independently
  • Ability to handle confidential information and ensure compliance with all security requirements
  • Flexibility and willingness to pitch in where needed
  • To represent organizational mission and vision
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be able to deal with emergencies
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required.


  • Full time, non-exempt position
  • Work schedule varies; regular weekend and holiday availability required
  • Some evening hours required during summer months
  • Occasional travel may be required to assist with transport for animal rescues and vet appointments
  • Salary: commensurate with experience
  • Benefits package, including paid holidays; personal days; vacation and sick leave; health, dental, and vision stipend. After a 3 month probationary period.
