Position Summary and Overview

The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a Head Social Studies Teacher in the high school division beginning mid-August 2021 for the 2021-2022 school year. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion w 
  • Plan curriculum, lessons, and assignments/projects
  • Develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and tools for students to become independent, college-bound learners
  • Break down/scaffold in-class assignments and projects
  • Grade student work and participation
  • Track student’s work and progress
  • Serve as an advisor to a small group of students/Communicate with parents 

Qualifications

  • MA in the content area or education 
  • Classroom experience teaching in a high school setting
  • Experience building positive appropriate relationships with teens 
  • Knowledge of, or experience with, learning disabilities
  • Experience with smartboards, google drive, and technology in the classroom
  • Patience, flexibility, and good organization skills
