Position Title: Grants Program Coordinator

Location: New York City

Position Reports to: Director of Development


Our Organization: iEARN-USA, a founding member of the iEARN International community, is a leader in international student exchange programming. Our Vision and Mission are to create a more interconnected, peaceful, and just world by empowering young people to make a positive difference in the world through global collaboration and transformative learning. iEARN-USA coordinates virtual exchange and study abroad programs for youth, professional development, and global networking for educators, and assists in the development of program content worldwide.

Position Overview: The program coordinator will play a key role in supporting international student exchange programs funded by the U.S. Department of State, including the Kennedy Lugar Youth and Exchange and Study (YES) and National Security and Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) programs. The program coordinator will support student outreach and support, event planning, alumni programming, and program communications. The coordinator will communicate regularly with iEARN partner offices around the world including: Bangladesh, Cameroon, India, Israel, Korea, Liberia, Mali, Morocco, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, Suriname, and Taiwan to ensure delivery of program activities. Opportunities for professional development and collaboration with other iEARN-USA departments are regularly available. The coordinator is expected to work some nights or weekends for events, to connect with international program staff, serve as a chaperone, or manage student support cases.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Work with program managers and country offices to coordinate program activities including recruitment and outreach for potential students; review applications of selected students; liaise with country partners for on-program support issues; assist managers with general program implementation; 
  • Coordinate workshops for students or alumni and contribute to program development to enhance the student exchange experience;
  • Manage assigned student support cases and provide on-program support; 
  • Maintain ongoing communication with parents, students, and partner organizations;
  • Share responsibility with grants program team to be on-call, 24/7, to respond to program emergency phone;
  • Lead strategic implementation of the program’s online presence and regularly update and maintain websites and social media platforms;
  • Develop written communications materials for program reports, newsletters, program highlights, success stories, etc.;
  • Organize event logistics including participant travel (ticketing, visas, passports, etc.), meeting locations, food, etc.;
  • Develop and plan virtual events;
  • Conduct in-country site visits and act as group escort;
  • Assist with other program and office-related administrative tasks;
  • Perform any related duties or special projects as directed by supervisor;
  • Must be willing to work some nights or weekends for student support cases and event coordination.

Qualifications:

  • Drive and passion for international education; mission-driven with a positive attitude;
  • Experience working with high school youth, particularly in managing youth support cases;
  • Experience with event planning and/or logistics management;
  • Ability to manage and prioritize simultaneous projects and deadlines;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Keen analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities and careful attention to detail;
  • High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills; ability to listen and engage a wide range of partners;
  • Desire to work in a collaborative environment; ability to work independently on projects and assume ownership as necessary;
  • Proficient in the use of Google Suite, Salesforce, social media platforms (FB, IG, LinkedIn, Twitter, Mailchimp), and tech savvy. 
  • Experience with social media tools in a professional context for content creation and analytics;
  • Able to acquire a passport and is willing to travel internationally;
  • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual a plus; 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience,
  • iEARN-USA will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

Salary: The salary range is $40,000 - $47,000
