Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Economic Recovery Coordinator works with local governments to help implement their Covid-19 economic recovery priorities; builds and strengthens regional collaborations among government agencies, nonprofit organizations and businesses in key sectors such as agriculture and food systems, marine trades, and forest products; and assists in planning for and funding key economic infrastructure such as broadband expansion. The position requires strong skills and demonstrated success in federal grant writing, economic development, strategic planning and meeting facilitation. Familiarity with community-based economic development models such as WealthWorks preferred. Excellent writing skills and the ability to work independently and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision are needed. This is a grant-funded position expected to last at least two years.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

·     Work with local governments to identify priority economic recovery projects and seek state and federal funding for implementation.

·     Work to strengthen existing and build new collaborations among government agencies, nonprofit organizations and businesses to support business recovery and expansion, value chain analysis and infrastructure development within key economic sectors in the region.

·     Provide support for existing NODC programs in the farm, food and forest sectors and broadband expansion.

·     Maintain strong relationships with NODC partners and conduct outreach to broaden collaborations and increase awareness of projects.

·     Assist with planning, grant research and writing, and implementation of projects prioritized by sector collaborations.

·     Maintain excellent records of all contacts, meetings and projects for purposes of reporting to partners and funders.

·     Participate in NODC staff meetings and provide support for other projects as requested.

Position Requirements

·     Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Master’s degree or additional training is preferred.

·     Minimum of 5 years professional experience in business development, economic development or similar field.

·     Demonstrated experience and success in writing federal grants and managing federal grants.

·     Proficient in use of computers, including email, word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software; familiarity with Apple Macintosh platform preferred.

·     Ability to work with and relate to people with a wide variety of backgrounds, education and experiences.

·     Excellent communication ability in written and spoken English.

·     Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.

·     Must live in Jefferson or Clallam County, Washington, or be willing to relocate.
