Legal Coordinator

Yaffed is seeking to hire a Legal Coordinator to oversee our legal efforts with a network of pro bono attorneys. Yaffed’s mission is to ensure that students receive the academic skills they need in order to pursue lives of economic self-sufficiency with a broad range of opportunities for personal choice and individual fulfillment. Our legal coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the efforts of our team of pro bono attorneys to advance our mission of ensuring that all private schools offer a quality education that is, at minimum, substantially equivalent to that of public schools.

Ongoing Tasks for the Legal Coordinator will include:

• Developing relationships with our pro bono attorney and recruiting additional attorneys to join our team
• Raising awareness of Yaffed’s work with pro bono attorneys, law firms, solo practitioners, bar associations and corporate law departments
• Working with partners to develop a strategy that will engage the legal community in advancing Yaffed’s agenda
• Creating and maintaining a tracking system to allow for the monitoring of all legal cases in which Yaffed is directly involved or relate to the advancement of our mission
• Reviewing cases for similarities and creating mechanisms to allow pro bono attorneys to benefit from the experiences of each other and determine where to develop resources 
• Supporting attorneys in their work where appropriate
• Meeting with parents and yeshiva graduates to determine the potential for new cases and assigning cases as needed
• Researching ongoing legal questions as issues arise and advising on internal legal issues
• Managing and tracking all FOIL requests made by Yaffed

• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with g-suite and microsoft office products

Experience:

8-10 years prior experience in legal strategy, ideally with experience in educational law 

Salary of $70,000-$80,000 commensurate with experience
