Job purpose

The Grant Manager’s primary responsibility is prospecting, writing and processing grants to raise the Zaccho’s annual budget from government, foundations, corporations and other sources. This position reports to the Artistic Director and works offsite.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Writes Grants
  • Works with board and senior staff to anticipate funding needs
  • Reviews current funding and identifies funding prospects
  • Works to secure invitations to submit proposals when necessary and appropriate
  • Writes narratives to respond to grant parameters and guidelines
  • Submits proposals to funders in a timely manner
  • Follows Up on Grant Awards
  • Submits reports to funders as required
  • Keeps records of all grants and reports submitted
  • Maintains calendar to monitor deadlines reporting obligations
  • Works with staff to facilitate grant writing
  • Works with staff members to gather data and narrative for proposals and reports
  • Meets with funders, donors, grant officers, Board members and community members as a representative of Zaccho as needed

Level of Language Proficiency


  • Minimum 3 years experience working in a nonprofit
  • Experience writing grants
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Strong writing and research skills
  • Flexibility to pursue various funding opportunities, often several at once
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Docs  
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience and/or interest in dance or performing arts is preferred

Working conditions

Flexible hours, mainly from home (some studio time required), must provide own computer and/or laptop.
