Founded in 1980, HDC has a mission to enrich the quality of life, foster intellectual stimulation, and promote cross-cultural understanding and the appreciation of local history for all DC residents. In partnership with the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), HDC is the federally-designated humanities council for Washington, DC and provides humanities education, lifelong learning, and public programming to communities across the city.
HDC is seeking a Programs Consultant, up to 30 hours weekly for three months. The position is responsible for working with the HDC staff to create programs that offer fresh and original topics that explore the human experience, promote cultural literacy and civil discourse in Washington DC. These programs will have thematic coherence, integrate with HDC programs and align with the current program plan. The consultant will create and implement these programs and work with staff to ensure their success. Some programs will be developed to take place beyond the term of the contract. The consultant will also work with staff on community outreach to ensure that programs are marketed and successful.
You have the following: experience working in one or more humanities disciplines; excellent program development, planning and execution skills; experience working with communities and institutions in Washington DC; excellent communications skills and a collaborative work style. Development and management experience In DC or the metro area. You possess a Bachelors degree or higher and an ability to get up to speed quickly.
