Girl Be Heard’s Programs staff is part of a close knit, dedicated and energetic team.

The Program Manager - Outreach & Special Projects is responsible for the strategic management of outreach and recruitment initiatives as well as two special projects organized by Girl Be Heard in support of its mission to build leaders, changemakers, and activists by developing, amplifying, and celebrating the voices of girls and young women through socially conscious theatre-making, storytelling, and performance.

The Program Manager - Outreach & Special Projects is an integral member of the GBH Program Team and will work in tandem with the Director of Programs and other GBH staff as needed to ensure that outreach and recruitment strategies are thoughtfully planned and executed, as well as overseeing 2 GBH special projects - Be! Workshops and GBH Podcast. The Program Manager should possess the capacity to build strong relationships with GBH program stakeholders, identify outreach, recruitment, and enrollment strategies, as well as possess excellent project management skills including overseeing program implementation, conducting program evaluation,overseeing data entry, and supervising teaching artists. 

The ideal candidate for this position possesses flexibility, professionalism, passion, and a dedication to positive youth development, social justice, and spoken word performance. They are a hands-on strategic thinker, a planner and problem solver, prepared to lead and direct staff through change and program expansion. Excellent communication skills are critical. The Program Manager - Special Projects must be comfortable communicating with the people who receive services and their families, and equally comfortable presenting before school leaders and members of the community.

Responsibilities include: 

Outreach and Recruitment

●      Serve as the GBH team lead in coordinating outreach and recruitment activities from conception for the purpose of meeting and maintaining enrollment targets for GBH programs and special projects (this includes, but is not limited to, outlining team support plan, identifying and attending public-facing events, conducting small and larger scale informational sessions, overseeing newsletter scheduling and distribution, and managing 1:1 outreach).

●      Manage and grow GBH’s community and school partnerships roster to identify areas of potential collaboration, community building, and program opportunities;

●      Work with the GBH Communications team to ensure effective promotion of programs and events including but not limited to creating social media content and posts, informing post scheduling.

Special Projects Oversight

●      Serve as the lead coordinator for Girl Be Heard Be! and Gtalk! Workshop series, inclusive of creating curriculum plan, outline, and pace of each series to standards outlined in GBH Curriculum and Programs Calendar;

●      Work with the Director of Programs to conceptualize disciplinary focus of each Be! Workshops cycle; (theatre, film, dance, etc.);

●      Work with the Director of Programs to conceptualize the reboot of GBH’s Podcast programming (including identifying host, guest speakers, and content and script development areas)

●      Outline script inclusive of resources and research required (e.g. previous work of the artist, watch list, etc.), host and complete post-production work such as archiving and writeups;

●      Identify, secure and submit to the Director of Programs for approval, guest artists and podcast guest speakers (which may include alumni, current participants, and GBH mission supporters) for Be! Workshop cycle;

●      Managing logistics around booking, planning, and payment as well formulating artists’ session plan with program descriptions;

●      Submit special projects report at conclusion of program each cycle;

●      Other projects as assigned

Qualifications:

●      Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of social justice issues, girls’ empowerment, youth leadership development, and art enrichment.

●      Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required,

●      4 years of management experience working in school, educational and community settings. 

●      Excellent leadership, communication, supervisory and team-building skills

●      Ability to motivate and align staff efforts to changing priorities and approaches, set goals, delegate responsibilities, and manage staff performance so as to ensure effective service delivery in accordance with organizational goals and program contracts.

●      Proficiency using personal computers, Microsoft Office or Google Docs (spreadsheets, word processing, email, presentations) and web-based applications, virtual meeting platforms and databases

●      Excellent project management, communication (written and oral), collaboration and team participation skills

●      Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively prioritize with a strong attention to detail

●      Ability and interest in working independently and collaboratively • Outstanding relationship building skills

●      Understands and embraces diversity and inclusiveness in thought, word and actions. Exemplifies these values.

●      Ability to work a varied schedule, including evenings, early mornings and weekends, when required.

Deadline: Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until position is filled.

Compensation: Salary is $58,500.00 per year.. Benefits include health insurance, paid vacation days and holidays, as well as Citibike membership, discounted gym memberships, and pre-tax transit benefit.
