Harnessing the unique craft of wooden boat building and maritime-centered exploration, we inspire young people to uncover the confidence, skills, and courage to chart pathways to their own success in and outside the classroom.

To achieve our mission, we:

o  Bring programs into schools and local communities;

o  Provide a unique and supportive learning environment for all students; 

o  Prioritize serving Title 1 schools;

o  Introduce students to the breadth of their urban environments;

o  Design programs that integrate STEM skills and healthy social-emotional development.

 

Position: Event Planner (Temporary Contract)

 

Beginning in February the event planner will work on a part-time basis. Within a few weeks of the event full-time+ hours are anticipated.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work with the Executive Director and Event Committee to plan and execute all duties required to successfully carry out an annual Spring fundraiser
  • Lead meetings with the Event Committee
  • Responsible for oversight of all pre, post, and day-of event logistics including but not limited to:
  • Identifying and conducting outreach to secure silent auction items
  • Confirming event entertainment
  • Finalizing food, venue decoration, utensils, flatware, etc.
  • Oversee all load-in and load-out of deliveries to venue
  • Ensure that all printed materials are created, picked up, and delivered
  • Work on run-of show with Executive Director and Event Committee
  • Identify and conduct outreach and follow-up to potential event sponsors
  • Conduct administrative needs required to make the event a success
  • Providing weekly progress reports to the Executive Director
  •   Additional duties as required

Qualifications Sought:

  • Leadership experience planning and coordinating fundraising events required
  • Stellar communications skills
  • Experience working with OneCause or similar online event platform
  • Experience working with vendors, Board members, special guests, and young people in a respectful manner
  • Desire to work as needed to get the job done
  • Attention to detail
  • Work well under pressure
  • Keen business ethics
  • Excellent MS Office skills
  • Outstanding References
