The Director of Resource Development will oversee all aspects of resource development and their intersection with organization-wide strategic planning, communications, and technology. Working with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, the Resource Development Manager is specifically responsible for major gifts, foundation grants, corporate sponsorships, and individual donors, which includes researching new opportunities, developing cultivation strategies, managing grant cycles, and maintaining ongoing donor relations. Other specific responsibilities include researching and contributing to government grant applications; developing fundraising strategies for major annual events; and contributing to organizational strategic planning and communications.


Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy

▪         Develop and manage the implementation of a comprehensive fundraising strategy in the areas of major donors, foundations, corporate giving, and individuals working in collaboration with staff, board and advisors/consultants

▪         Evaluate performance of development strategies on an annual basis

▪         Coordinate an organizational team committed to resource development efforts

▪         Maintain relationships and support all Board members regarding their role in resource development


Fundraising

▪         Develop a strategy to assist the Executive Director in cultivating new and prospective major donors

▪         Develop a strong cultivation program and event framework for corporate gifts and sponsorships

▪         Develop and implement an aggressive grant strategy, including research, tracking, cultivation, solicitation, and grant administration

▪         Develop and implement a comprehensive individual donor strategy in concert with key program staff, including at least one significant appeal campaign, if not more

▪         Leverage and coordinate cultivation and solicitation efforts of Executive Director, Board, staff and partners, with a comprehensive system for contact, follow up and regular communication

▪         Research new government funding opportunities (county, state, and federal) and work with the Operations Director to apply for contracts/grants and report on outcomes

 

Donor Management

▪         Ensure accurate and consistent data management for all donors and all resource development activities

▪         Monitor, record, analyze and report on fundraising results on a regular basis

▪         Ensure effective and timely thank you and acknowledgment process

▪         Develop system for securing, acknowledging and accounting for in-kind services and products


Communications and Technology

▪         Oversee the organization’s culture shift to one that embraces and uses technology to the fullest

▪         Oversee a database transition process and quality use of the database, organization-wide

▪         Contribute to strategic communications and technology as they relate to resource development

▪         Assist with key writing for strategic communications on an as-needed basis

 

Event Support

▪         Develop and implement resource development strategies for annual events

▪         Initiate and share responsibility for the targeting of the business community to sponsor IMPACT events


Essential Skills

▪         At least three years of development experience, preferably in a similar community-based, social entrepreneurial setting, with a strong background and demonstrated record in Foundation relations and successful grant accomplishments

▪         Experience with corporate giving campaigns

▪         Experience and/or skills in strategic communications, marketing, and new media technology a plus

▪         Experience using and managing a donor database system

▪         Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (writing sample will be required)

▪         High proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, online and offline research, email, and other online communications tools; strong grounding in data management and web content

▪         Ability to think strategically while executing tactically

▪         Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with an appropriate risk-taking mentality

▪         Very detailed oriented and highly organized with strong ability to juggle multiple and varied responsibilities

Salary

$65,000 - $75,000
