The Youth and Young Adult Coordinator will lead the Catholic Climate Covenant’s initiative to reach out to, engage, and collaborate with Catholic youth and young adults across the United States. The coordinator will help build, shape and express calls and actions by youth and young adults with the goal to further Catholic teaching on the environment. Outreach and engagement will include dialogue and coordination with the representatives of Catholic institutions such as dioceses, parishes, schools, universities, and other relevant organizations.

In 2020, work will focus primarily on generating successful outcomes for the Catholic Climate Project, an inter-generational initiative to lift up the Catholic Church’s teachings on creation care and climate action across the Catholic community – including dioceses, parishes, universities, schools, religious orders, and other institutions – through prayer, education, action and advocacy. These activities will accelerate during the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day (April) and the 5th anniversary of the release of Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si’ (May-June) and the Season of Creation (Sept-Oct). The initiative may evolve into a separate organization under favorable circumstances.
