Compensation begins at $18/hour depending on experience

Food For Free is a non-profit organization that improves access to healthy food within our community by rescuing food that would otherwise go to waste, strengthening the community food system, and creating new distribution channels to reach underserved populations.

We envision a future where everyone in our community—regardless of age, income or ability—has consistent access to fresh, healthy, delicious food.

Summary

Food For Free is hiring a part-time Events and Communications Coordinator (ECC) to support our fundraising team. This position will have primary responsibility for 1) recruiting and supporting the fundraising efforts of riders on our Ride for Food team, 2) recruiting and supporting walkers for the Walk for Hunger team, 3) managing the auction component of our Party Under the Harvest Moon fundraiser. The ECC will support other events, held throughout the year, and will work with the rest of the Development and Marketing team to engage supporters through social media channels year-round.

This position requires someone with an unusual balance of skills: a warm personality with the ability to recruit and generate enthusiasm among volunteers, solid organizational and data-management abilities, and a comfort with personally asking for donations. The ideal candidate will also have sufficient design skills to create visually compelling social media content and emails.

Hours worked will range from 20-30 hours/week, with more hours August-October and fewer the rest of the year.

Food For Free supports our staff in working remotely whenever possible during the COVID19 pandemic. As of January 2021, this position can be worked remotely about 90% of the time, but still requires occasional trips to Food For Free’s office.
