The Observer Research Foundation America (ORF America) was established in 2020 as an independent, non-partisan public policy institute based in Washington DC. It is an overseas affiliate of the Observer Research Foundation, India’s premier non-government think tank. Job Summary

ORF America is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator or Program Manager with 3+ years of prior work experience in the field of international relations and strategic affairs to (i) manage several existing policy dialogues, (ii) contribute and oversee research and analysis related to strategic and security issues, and (iii) help develop new programming on strategic affairs. This position reports to the Executive Director and offers the opportunity for long-term professional growth. The Program Coordinator or Program Manager will work closely with the ORF America team in Washington DC as well as colleagues at ORF’s offices in India.

Qualifications

  • A professional background in international relations and security, and a demonstrable interest in India’s relations with the United States, Asia-Pacific, and/or Europe.
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant subject (such as international relations, political science, history, or economics). A master’s degree or Ph.D. is preferred but not required for this position.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States. ORF America does not sponsor visas for employees at this time.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English. Asian or European language abilities a plus but not required.
  • Strong research and analytical skills. Candidates should ideally be able to conduct primary source research, offer insightful analysis, and work with qualitative and quantitative data.
  • A self-starter with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and proactively develop programming. Attention to detail and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues and manage interns.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage several existing ORF America policy dialogues and programs, both virtually and in-person. Responsibilities will include collaborating on the topical agendas and speaker selection, preparing background materials, issuing invitations, managing logistics, and drafting reports.
  • Monitor current developments in international affairs, and contribute both long- and short-form research and commentary.
  • Manage and edit publications by external contributors .
  • Proactively developing new programs in collaboration with the management of ORF America, including writing grant proposals and managing relations with partners.
