The Center creates operating projects that have been documented to reduce the use of jail and prison, assist victims of crime, and strengthen communities.

The Staten Island Justice Center (SIJC) offers an array of programming for both youth and adults in Staten Island, focusing on engaging those with current or past justice involvement. The Justice Center provides judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys with alternative community sentencing options that hold individuals accountable in a way that is meaningful, proportionate, and restorative. The goal is to provide participants with individual and group services that help them to avoid future contact with the justice system and promote swift case resolutions that bolster public confidence in justice.

SIJC is seeking a Youth Clinical Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Community Programs, the Youth Clinical Coordinator is responsible for providing clinical support to the AIM Program and to the Youth Programs department. Duties include conducting assessments, individual sessions with participants and their families, facilitating referrals, and providing clinically-informed case management services to participants and their families. The Youth Clinical Coordinator will also work to develop and facilitate trauma-informed programming that addresses community violence and fosters healing and positive youth development.

  • Assist with the day-to-day operation of SIJC mentorship programming, including ensuring 24/7 program coverage, scheduling and facilitating weekly team meetings, providing coverage for staff as needed, and supervising program participants during field trips and community benefit activities;
  • Monitor and report on compliance to court stakeholders and collaborate with court stakeholders to assist in engaging participants;
  • Oversee data collection for the mentorship program and ensure that data collection procedures are followed;
  • Collaborate with the Center’s development department in producing written reports, as required by program funders;
  • Provide participant progress reports to court and governmental partners, as needed;
  • Build and maintain partnerships with agencies in Staten Island and citywide who can serve as referral partners for participants and their families;
  • Engage in strategic planning and visioning for the SIJC mentorship programming together with Director of Community Programs and Project Director;
  • Collaborate with other SIJC staff to develop, facilitate, and coordinate field trips, workshops and community benefit programs for participants at the Staten Island Justice Center and within the greater Staten Island community;
  • Act as a community liaison for the SIJC by attending community meetings and events;
  • Participate in and assist with staff meetings and development activities, training opportunities, and SIJC events and special initiatives;
  • Provide coverage and clinical support to other SIJC youth programming, as needed;
  • Other activities and duties, as needed.
