ReGeneration Schools, one of the nation’s premier charter school programs, seeks an exceptional, high performing development professional.  The mission of ReGeneration Schools is to ensure that all children have equal access to a high quality, college-preparatory education through academic excellence, character development, and an infusion of joy. ReGeneration Schools is a non-profit charter school management organization that's dedicated to revitalizing schools through a college prep and character mission. We currently manage a network of six schools on three CICS campuses in Chicago, IL and one school in Cincinnati, OH. We’re dedicated to closing the achievement gap because we believe the only way for our society to build a better democracy is by rebuilding America’s failing schools.

The successful candidate will be an engaging, creative professional who has a demonstrated track record of success in raising significant funds across a spectrum of donors and building long term philanthropic partnerships. We’re looking for a talented leader to help ReGeneration build the leading school program in Ohio.

Background

Founded in 2013, ReGeneration Schools is a charter network of college prep public elementary schools demonstrating every day that, given equitable resources, children from every community can excel.  ReGen creates a structured learning environment where students and families feel safe, valued, and welcome.

Our schools are small so that every child is known. We communicate routines so that children always know what’s expected of them. At ReGeneration Schools, we create a scholarly atmosphere where. students learn to communicate with each other and teachers to promote vibrant discussion. We create the space for academic rigor and provide a safe community for children to thrive.

Responsibilities

The Director of Development will lead ReGeneration’s multi-million dollar annual fundraising effort in collaboration with its Executive team, and ReGeneration’s Board of Directors. The Director reports to the Chief of Staff and serves as a primary liaison for external constituencies, including individuals, corporations, foundations, and government agencies invested in ReGeneration’s success.

Key Responsibilities and Expected Outcomes

Implement a comprehensive, diversified fundraising plan. Identify prospects, complete research, and build an effective strategy for securing major gifts from individual, corporate, family, and national foundations. 

Successfully raise approximately $3M annually with an expected growth in philanthropic revenue of 20% year-over-year.

Work with the Board of Directors and Executive Team to maximize giving potential of individual members and develop targeted strategies to leverage their networks.

Secure 100% board participation in annual giving.

Create effective and compelling materials including proposals, presentations, flyers, and other collateral helpful to the solicitation process. 

Administrative responsibilities include maintaining the fundraising software, updating donor information, fulfilling grant reporting obligations and providing timely gift acknowledgement.

Update donor database and current donor information, promptly send gift acknowledgements, and provide accurate and timely grant reporting. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate should enjoy working in a dynamic, results-oriented environment in which expectations are high for both the quality and speed of work.  

Education, Training and/or Experience

1.     Bachelor’s degree required

2.    Minimum of 5 years of professional development experience, including 1 year of supervisory experience.

3.    Demonstrated success with individual giving and major gifts.

4.    Knowledge of donor databases and development administrative processes.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics

1.     Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, board members, donors, and elected officials.

2.    Results oriented with the ability to anticipate and overcome challenges, persevere, and meet goals

3.    Excellent written and verbal communication skills

4.    Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple complex activities

5.    A passionate commitment to serving families in low-income communities.  


WORKING CONDITIONS

Work may be performed remotely or on site at ReGeneration Schools or

administrative offices. This position requires availability for extended hours

plus non-traditional hours required to perform job duties.  The candidate will need a vehicle and the

ability to travel in the Cincinnati area. The position also requires

participation and attendance at organization sponsored events and meetings.
