To ensure that Brilliant Detroit sites are safe, predictable and responsive for all staff members and participants, our organization model includes a role called the Senior Manager of Community Engagement(SMOCE). The SMOCE is key member of our organization’s Global Team who actively supports Community Engagement Managers in support of kid success neighborhoods. This position reports to the Programming and Partners Officer, with support from the CEO.
This work will be done in accordance with the core principles of our Detroit-based non-profit team: ★ With, For, and By: This work is guided by the leadership and ongoing input of our participants. ★ Coordinated and Continuous: Evidence-based programs are coordinated to meet the goals and needs of participants continuously throughout early childhood. ★ Whole Family and Holistic: Evidence-based programs operate holistically, meeting an array of needs to improve literacy, health, and family stability. These programs focus not just on children but on caregivers as well. ★ Love, Safety, and Growth: It takes creating an atmosphere of love and safety, where people feel truly seen and cared for, before we can grow. ★ Asset-Based: Everybody has a gift or talent that they can share and a purpose they can play in building kid success neighborhoods. ★ Neighbor-to-Neighbor Across Zip Codes: Brilliant Detroit offers opportunities for people to connect and build community as neighbors regardless of the zip code in which they live.
Activities and Responsibilities: ● For each Brilliant Detroit hub: ○ Aid in establishing and maintaining a positive, safe, and kid-success culture ○ Facilitate continuity efforts for each neighborhood. ○ Establish concrete achievement goals for individual performance. ○ Identify issues and concerns that create barriers to achieving outcomes, and develop a process to address them ○ Ensure that key resources (people, time, materials, and dollars) are managed properly ○ Oversee designated Brilliant Detroit site managers to assure that all community and programming needs, outreach plans, and schedules are in place and meeting organizational goals. ○ In working with the house managers and supportive staff, see team building opportunities in subcultures and encourage inter-team cooperation and improved information sharing ○ Perform other duties as assigned. ● Serve on the Global and Manager Team, helping establish organizational priorities and actions. ● Pay close attention to the details about the work environment and opportunities to make improvements ● Support with the development and implementation of participant/community interaction, supports and interventions ● Assist in the orientation of new community engagement managers and other staff ● Oversee interns as needed ● Collaborate and coordinate with community partners to implement programs at each Brilliant Detroit hub
Qualifications ● Master’s Preferred, or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Early Childhood Education or related field ● Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership and decision making skills. ● Ability to collaborate with team members to achieve ambitious goals; ● Familiarity with positive behavioral interventions and character development; ● Ability to build relationships, manage people and solve issues in a complex and chaotic environment; ● Effective oral, written communication and interpersonal skills; proficient in using Google Drive ● A high degree of personal integrity, professionalism and persistence
