Position Description

NAEYC seeks a highly motivated Creative Design Specialist to develop dynamic and effective print and digital products. This person provides graphic design, layout, and branding expertise on a variety of projects, elevating the effectiveness of these materials.

 

The Creative Design Specialist works closely with the Senior Creative Design Manager and departments across the organization to maintain the creative services project schedule and ensure timelines and processes are developed, communicated, and maintained.

 

Primary Responsibilities and Key Objectives

  • Collaborates with inter-departmental teams to execute graphic design for NAEYC print and digital publications and collateral.
  • Creates dynamic new design concepts for assigned publications and digital products.
  • Maintains create services project schedule. Works with manager, colleagues and other staff to ensure job sheet is kept up-to-date and accurate.
  • Coordinates design and production workflows with other NAEYC staff members, and participates in weekly meetings.
  • Makes appropriate recommendations on stronger, more user-friendly ways to visually present content.
  • Ensures projects follow NAEYC brand and design conventions with an emphasis on quality and innovation.
  • Works closely with senior staff to support the rebranding of NAEYC collateral.
  • Manages multiple assignments at once, communicate effectively with colleagues, and prioritize workloads.
  • Keeps current on latest design trends, emerging media and software. Leverages this knowledge to enhance NAEYC offerings.
  • Provides additional design and production resources as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Cross-Department Engagement

  • Helps establish and maintain graphic design production plans in conjunction with other NAEYC departments and staff, including Marketing, Books and Publications, Global, Accreditation and the Web Content teams.
  • Initiates cross-departmental collaboration and acts as a role model in a more creative and innovative organizational approach to design.
  • Ensures timely delivery of products and communicates any potential impact to budgets or timelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of professional print and digital design experience.
  • Knowledge of industry tools including Adobe Creative Cloud CC, namely Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Dreamweaver.
  • Experience in HTML, CSS, Drupal, and e-mail systems.
