Description

As one of our Summer Instructors, you will play a pivotal role in jump-starting the professional careers of high school seniors who work at our over 40 corporate partners. You will become the mentor they will never forget. We believe that being a successful professional involves more than technical skills alone. Our trainers teach students how to enter and succeed in the corporate environment by covering subjects such as customer service, effective communication skills, presentations, reliability, corporate culture, etc. We encourage “real-world training" so that when students finish the Genesys Works training program, they are truly prepared for the next step in life. Bring your previous professional experience to our students and make a difference in their lives, forever.


Summer Instructors are expected to be available for the following schedule:

  • Instructor Training: June 18- June 22 | 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
  • Summer Training: June 25 - August 17 | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Open positions include:

  • Accounting Instructors teach groups of young professionals consisting of about 25-30 students on the fundamentals of accounting principles using a curriculum specifically designed for Genesys Works. 
  • Information Technology Instructors teach groups of young professionals consisting of about 25-30 students the foundations of information technology using the CISCO IT Essentials curriculum. Information Technology Instructors must be certified to teach the CISCO IT Essentials curriculum.
  • Computer Science Instructors teach groups of young professionals consisting of about 20-25 students an introduction to application development with Swift using Apple's Everyone Can Code Curriculum.


IT Instructor:


Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching CISCO IT Essentials curriculum to students during an eight-week summer training program
  • Providing feedback to students on their progression through our summer training program
  • Attending weekly team meetings with Genesys Works staff


Qualifications

Instructional Abilities

  • Currently certified to teach CISCO IT Essentials
  • Experience teaching Information Technology curriculum to diverse learning groups
  • Advanced MS Office experience
  • Ability to teach professional skills such as presentations, effective communications, reliability, dependability, corporate guidelines and policies


Accounting Instructor:


Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching our accounting skills curriculum to students during an eight-week summer training program
  • Providing feedback to students on their progression through our summer training program
  • Attending weekly team meetings with Genesys Works staff


Qualifications

dynamic environment, and who demonstrate a record of achievement in previous activities. Qualified candidates will possess:


Accounting Knowledge

  • General business structure and accounting cycle
  • Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable
  • Basic understanding of financial statements
  • Basic payroll principles
  • Account analysis
  • Entering invoices, vendors, etc.
  • Basic problem solving
  • Heavy emphasis on MS Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook


Instructional Abilities


Experience teaching accounting/finance to diverse learning groups

  • Advanced MS Office experience
  • Ability to develop and deliver custom curriculum based on client needs
  • Ability to create a quiz and knowledge evaluation each week based on the content delivered
  • Ability to teach professional skills such as presentations, effective communications, reliability, dependability, corporate guidelines and policies


Additional Experience

  • Experience working in corporate environments
  • Driven by strong ethics and a determination to make a positive impact on young lives
  • Ability to function in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
  • Four-year college degree preferred
  • Experience working or volunteering with youth programs preferred


Computer Science Instructor:
